GRANGE OF THE REMARKABLE 1976 VINTAGE
Now lying London, S.E.1
Grange Hermitage--Vintage 1976
South Australia. Penfolds
Tasting note: Intense liquorice/coffee-like, meaty bouquet with hints of plum. Highly concentrated palate with densely-packed, meaty, dark chocolate and liquorice-like flavours. Strong but in-balance tannins, fine medium acid and sweetness of fruit combine to produce a wine of structure and power with excellent long term potential.
Tasting note extracted from "The Rewards of Patience, 1994". Andrew Callard, MW, a director of Langtons who are associated with Christie's in Australia, was a member of the tasting panel.
