Margaux, 1er cru classé. English-bottled by Dolamore
Levels: one base of neck, two top and two upper-shoulder
Traditional English, and Scottish, wine merchants had an excellent reputation for bottling yet it still comes as a suprise to be reminded that even first-growths, like Château Margaux and Cheval-Blanc were shipped in cask well into the 1950s and, to select merchants, until the early 1960s.
Dolamores', owned by the Gummer family had an excellent reputation. They were based in Baker Street and were until quite recent years the only London merchant of note to have a branch in Cambridge. M.B.
