Saint-Julien, 2me cru classé. Château-bottled
In original wooden cases
For me, a most nostalgic wine: I drank a half-bottle at the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh prior to being driven to Hopetoun House to inspect the cellar of the Marquis of Linlithgow. Great wines, and an introduction in the following morning to Lord Rosebery. This was the autumn of 1966, and it lead to Christie's first "Finest and Rarest" sale, in May 1967. It put us on the international map.
A double-magnum from the cellar at Christie's was enjoyed by the Bordeaux Club members and ladies in February 1994. Fleshy, full of fruit, with racy acidity. M.B.
