Cristal, or Cristal Brut, in its very distinctive glass bottle harks back to the prosperous pre-revolutionary period in Russia. It was in 1876 that Tsar Alexander II requested that his personal champagne should be presented in crystal bottles. Roederer's de luxe blend is made up of the finest cuvées from top rated vineyards, from 55 to 60 Pinot Noir and from 40 to 45 Chardonnay.
The '66 Cristal "The epitome of elegance - wonderful length and finish", though I confess this is an odd note. Should be superb. MB
