I well recall my first visit to the Mont-Redon vineyard, astonished to see the enormous pebbles that acted like night storage heaters, charged by the blazing summer Rhône Valley sun and transferring the heat to the underside of the leaves and bunches at night. No wonder the wine is so richly endowed. MB
