Grace Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon--Vintage 1990
Details
Grace Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon--Vintage 1990
Napa Valley
Specially commissioned bottle, etched and painted by the artist Anne Morningstar, together with a specially fitted Honduran mahogany carved box by the artist David Voissard.
One of three bottles produced in this format, this is the only impériale that will be released by the Grace Family Vineyards onto the auction market. The wine for this bottle has come from the collections of the Grace Family children and a few close friends.
Regardless of format, the Grace Family Vineyards 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon is exceedingly rare. Dan Berger of the Los Angeles Times calls the 1990 Grace "...one of the best Cabernet Sauvignons made in the world..." (June 22, 1989). The Underground Wine Journal concurs with their comments "..it is the best young wine we have ever tasted from California and may well be one of, if not the best and the most complete wines in the world in this great 1990 vintage." (vol. XIV, No. 8).
The proceeds from the sale of this bottle will fund the Grace Family Vineyards Foundation, whose stated purpose is to enhance and enrich the lives of young people, as well as alleviate the tribulations of those youngsters and their families that must deal with life threatening illnesses. The Foundation is involved in such diverse efforts as the Make A Wish Foundation, Magic Moments, Pediatric AIDS charities, the Shanti Project and the Grace Family Vineyards' Student Motivational Program, to name a few. The mission statement of the Grace Family Vineyards is " Wine is a Catalyst Towards Healing Our Planet." and it is their philosophy that each of us can make a difference.
