Recorked by Whitwham's in 1979, with top-shoulder level and deep color; Whitwham slip label only.
One of the great pre-phylloxera vintages. Almost certainly from a good English or Scottish cellar. Whitwam's, wine merchants in Altrincham, near Manchester, have been Christie clients since the establishment of the specialized wine department in 1966. They are exports at recorking and their policy is only to recork if, after opening, the wine is sound. MB
