Louis Roederer, Cristal--Vintage 1976
In original cartons
Lot 19 with lightly corroded foil capsules
"Alas, tasted only once. But, memorably, when young. It was on the occasion of my first visit to the home of Herbert Allan, the inventor of the Screwpull corkscrew. Superb. A very attractive pale gold with steady flow of bubbles. An intriguing nose; fresh straw, smoky, slightly toasted; dry, positive, in fact quite assertive, fairly full-bodied, steely yet elegant, with good length and acidity. Still a bit hard and youthful in October 1983. Now doubtless five stars." GVWB
