Jean Delmas writes about the 1989 Haut-Brion: "Today one can say about this wine: first the wine shows great concentration of aromas and a lot of mellowness due to lovely tannins and a rather low acidity. A wine with a lot of finesse and harmony. One might compare it to the 1959 for its structure and mellowness. Similar weather conditions that produced a rather similar crop. The Haut-Brion 1989 is one of the Haut-Brions, if not the best, of the last 50 years. Production was 15,000 cases; drink 2000-2025."
