Lot Essay
After spending the years 1940-1945 with his wife in Blaricum, Willem Dooyewaard travelled to Morocco in 1948 in the company of his brother and fellow painter Jacob. In a studio, which was put at the disposal of foreign artists by the Moroccan government, Willem recorded the country's colourful landscape and busy townviews and portrayed numerous veiled, exotic Maroccan models.
