A finely embroidered sampler, Aberdeen[?], the name and date indistinct, worked in shades of green, brown, cream and red silks with the verse "Jesus Permit thy Gracious Name..." above and an elegant house below, flanked by flower baskets, trees, dogs, birds and peacocks, with a tufted lawn and brick wall with gates in front, initials below and naturalistic flower stems around the verse, all within a stylised floral border--16 x 20in. Lot Essay
This is very similar in design and execution to a sampler by Helen Dick, Aberdeen 1828, which was sold in these rooms as lot 87 on 16 May 1995.
