Ponting, F.R.G.S., no.5 (?another print): 'The Terra Nova had on board nineteen Siberian ponies, which were in the care of Captain L.E.G.Oates of the Inniskilling Dragoons'.

[Together with:] a very fine portrait of 'Titus' Oates taken in the hold of the Terra Nova on the way down to the Antarctic; [And:] a fine double portrait from an Oates family album: Oates on the left with a large single ski pole, Cecil Meares on the right with double bamboo ski poles, the flash light barely penetrating beyond them into the winter darkness; [And:] two photographs by ?Ponting of Mount Erebus from Cape Evans, each 6 x 8ins. (15 x 20cms), one with the hut and an unidentified figure in the foreground; [And:] 29 other photographs, the majority Oates 'family snaps' of horses, dogs, cars, family members, but including two early carte-de-visite formal photographs of Caroline Oates (circa 1867-80).
