Nepal, 7th/8th Century
Standing in tribhanga with her right hand in varada mudra and with a diamond-shaped floret on the palm, her left arm resting against her hip, her sinuous body with voluminous curved hips and slim waist, wearing a diaphanous flaring dhoti tied with a broad sash at the waist centered by a rosette, richly adorned with foliate armbands, a beaded necklace and bracelets and flanked by a billowing scarf, her face with a serene expression with fine aquiline nose, almond-shaped eyes beneath high arched brows, the ears with pendulous lobes and rosette earrings, the hair arranged in an elaborately knotted chignon centered by a foliate tiara, the bronze with some encrustation

No other bronze figure of this type and relatively large size appears to be recorded. Compare the bronze figure of a Devi, of similar date but only half the size, from the George P. Bickford Collection and now at the Cleveland Museum of Art, cf. U. von Schroeder, op. cit., pl. 75G.
