A silver and gilt-bronze stele of Kubera
Sino-Tibetan, 19th Century
Seated in lalitasana atop his lion mount with one hand in vitarka mudra and the other holding a mongoose, adorned with necklaces inset with coral and turquoise stones, his dhoti incised with a cloud scroll border, his face with a benign expression and flanked by a windswept sash, the lion with fangs and tongue bared, his mane and tail finely incised in scrolling curls, on a separately cast gilt lotus base with detachable aureole decorated with cloud scrolls, the base incised with double vajra
