A large bronze figure of Buddha
Burma, Pagan period, 12th Century
Finely cast standing on a circular plinth with his right arm angled in abhaya mudra and his left hand holding a tip of his robe, draped in a diaphanous sanghati falling in undulating folds at the base, his oval face with downcast eyes inlaid in silver, aquiline nose and pursed lips flanked by the long pendulous ear lobes, his hair arranged in tight curls rising to a faintly domed ushnisha and a bud finial, the patina of rich green overall
