Khmer, Angkor period, Baphuon style, 11th Century
The oblong face finely carved with tapered chin, straight bow-shaped mouth and full nose, the almond-shaped eyes incised beneath the slanted raised brows, flanked by long pendent earlobes, the hair arranged in plaits pulled back from the lobed hairline and gathered in a neatly finished cylindrical topknot, secured with a beaded band around the base and crowned by lotus rosettes, the stone of reddish tone with smooth surface
