The sides of very slightly curved outline flaring outwards from the canted edge of the flat base, adeptly carved on the interior with a graceful lotus blossom spray with feather-like leaves and covered overall with an ivory-colored glaze shading to an olive tone in the recesses

Lot Essay

Compare the saucer dish with a metal rim band, apparently one of a pair, originally in the Edward T. Chow Collection, and later included in the exhibition in Chinese Art From the Reach Family Collection, Eskenazi, London, 8 - 22 December 1989, Catalogue, no. 16. The second dish of the pair is illustrated by Ccile and Michel Beurdeley, A Connoisseur's Guide to Chinese Ceramics, London 1974, p. 145, fig. 77.
