Lot Essay

No other examples of a table combined with a roller footrest appear to have been published, though footrests with rollers and tables with latticework footrests are well known. For an example of the former, see Grace Wu Bruce, The Dr. S.Y. Yip Collection of Classic Chinese Furniture, Hong Kong, 1991, Catalogue, p. 149, no. 59. For an example of the latter, see Robert Ellsworth, Chinese Furniture, p. 226, fig. 140. The present example is a very satisfying combination of practicality and luxury.
