A HUANGHUALI RECESSED LEG PAINTING TABLE, HUA'AN
Late 16th/Early 17th Century
The single-panel broad top held within a mitred frame with 'ice-plate' edge, the round recessed legs joined by a plain, straight apron with apron-head spandrels, the front and back legs braced by double stretchers of oval section with flat undersides and concealed tenons, the lower stretchers pegged, the underside with extensive original clay, ramie and lacquer remaining
