-- 1860 (31 Oct.) letters inserts (3) comprising a note from Ormonde Hill to Warren de la Rue suggesting possible design layouts for the date slugs, and the other two inserts with pen and ink illustrations of the proposed formats for the Irish, English/Scottish and London/Edinburgh slugs, also included (as referred to in Hill's letter) are a superb collection of over 170 proof examples of different newspaper titles (English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish) intended to appear at the left of the impressed tax stamp including a piece showing three titles se-tenant starting with "RAGGED SCHOOL/UNION MAGAZINE"; condition a little mixed though mostly good to fine.
