Lot Essay

The makers have kindly confirmed that this rare and very beautiful gun/rifle was completed in 1909 and its present specifications conform to those entered in their books. It appears to have been relatively little used. Cape rifles are relatively scarce; those by Purdey are considerably more so and no other has appeared by this maker for at least three decades. This example combines a perfect 16-bore specification with a rifle capacity in the medium to heavy range of calibre
