The pedimented cabinet has a base with Chinese umbrello'd cornice and commode doors enriched with moulded frames and acanthus-cartouche spandrels. The same features appear on a china-cabinet bookcase, that was in the collection of Sir James Caird and attributed to William Vile (d.1767) cabinet-maker to King George III (R. Edwards and M Jourdain, Georgian Cabinet-Makers, London, 1955, fig. 59).
