The rectangular padded back and drop-in seat covered in green and cream silk-damask, on cabriole legs joined by ring-turned H-shaped stretchers, on pad feet, the underside inscribed in white paint '69/6022' and with plastic label 'OM6022', the feet tipped, one stretcher partially replaced, the back probably previously a splat back, then lowered and now upholstered, later blocks

Lot Essay

A suite of George I seat furniture of the same pattern as the second chair, upholstered in cut woollen velvet, was supplied for the saloon at Erddig, Wales (M. Dury, 'Early Eighteenth-Century Furniture at Erdigg', Apollo, July 1978, p. 55, fig. 16).
