The shaped rectangular padded back, arms and cushion covered in maroon cut damask, the frame gadrooned overall, above a serpentine apron, on cabriole legs headed by husk trails on scroll feet

The Parker Knoll records state that this chair was acquired from Walter Ferry in 1949 for £45.00.

Lot Essay

This chair in the French Hepplewhite taste, has similar curviliear form, gadrooned frame and scroll feet, to a settee from the Henry Hirsch Collection, illustrated in R. Edwards The Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture, London, 1964, p.95, fig. 55.
