The pierced ladder-back flanked by shaped, downswept arms, above a padded drop-in serpentine seat and covered in leather, on square tapering legs, the underside inscribed in white paint '210/2210' and with plastic label 'OM 2210', restorations and the arms partially replaced

The ladder-back flanked by outscrolled arms, above a seat covered in close-nailed leather, on cabriole legs and pad feet, the underside inscribed in white paint '105' and with plastic label, '1191', restorations and replacements, the toprails, the lower ladder-back, one front leg and one arm replaced, probably adapted from a commode chair (2)

Lot Essay

The Parker Knoll records state that the first chair was acquired from Hall in 1913 at a cost of £2.10.0 and the second chair was in stock prior to 1915, described as a 'Queen Anne ladderback' and valued at £1.11.0.
