The Parker Knoll records state that both these chairs were in stock in 1914 and each valued at 10/-. The loop-back chair, conceived in the antique manner introduced in the early 1780s by the architect James Wyatt, corresponds to the 'feather back' pattern with additional drapery illustrated in the 1788 Estimate Sketch Book of Gillows of London and Lancaster (L. Boynton (ed.) Gillow Furniture Designs, Royston, 1995, no. 273).
