LATE 1ST MILLENNIUM A.D.
With handle in the form of an addorsed horse and bird with bearded head in the centre, on either side a long bearded head wearing a conical hat sitting on a notched plinth, below two strips of wood each with concave sides, the lower strip decorated with three flat metal notched wheels, separated by fourteen vertical narrow strips of wood and pierced in the middle, traces of gesso and orange and yellow pigment, repaired, 9¼ in. (23.4 cm.) high; a Roman bronze strigil, 8¼ in. (21 cm.) long; a bronze furniture attachment in the form of a winged lion's leg with head of a griffin, a laurel wreath surmounting the wings, 2¾ in. (6.9 cm.) high; a bronze finial with acanthus leaves from which emerges the head of a bearded goat, 2¼ in. (5.7 cm.) high, all circa 1st Century B.C./A.D.; a Greek bronze stemless kylix, 7½ in. (19 cm.) across handles; two bronze phiales, one with central omphalos, repaired, 6¼ in. (15.8 cm.) diam. max., all 5th Century B.C.; an Italic bronze leech-shaped fibula; and a 'serpent' fibula, repaired, 8th-6th Century B.C., 4.1/8 in.
