Including a chisel, strap-end, enamelled buckle, two bow fibulae and a later Christian niello inscribed scale beam, 6 in. (15 cm.) long; and a large miscellaneous group of various periods, including a Roman bronze vessel handle, bronze finger rings, one of silver with cornelian intaglio, an Italic bronze bridle-trapping or archer's guard with double attachment loops and three spikes, 5th-4th Century B.C., a bronze lamp, keys, a Corinthian pottery aryballos, circa 600 B.C., a group of Greek and South Italian black-glazed pottery vessels, including bowls, jugs and a feeder with side spout, 2¼ in. (5.7 cm.) high, 4th Century B.C., other pottery and glass fragments; and a Chinese soapstone brush pot carved in high relief with prunus, vine and bamboo, 19th Century A.D., 5.3/8 in. An ink inscribed label with the first group of bronzes reads "Picked up from a rubbish heap in Pompeii on September 1816 by C.W." Some other items from the Mainwaring Collection.
