Carved in the Tang style, the powerful figure carved with muscular haunches shown seated with front paws firmly planted on the rectangular base, with head facing above the broad chest and mouth open in a roar showing the teeth, the face well-carved with creases following the shape of the mouth as below the bulging eyes with scowling brows and swept-back ears, the stone of light brown tone with areas of brownish red similar to pudding stone
