Lot Essay

These console tables with their richly-carved details, sober neoclassc form and attenuated legs can be related to numerous examples from the Tuscan workshops. A very similar Tuscan console table with nearly identical paterae centering the apron, was sold Sotheby's London, 3 December 1997, lot 161.
