Mme. la comtesse H. de Reinach-Foussemagne, Une Fidle. La marquise de Lage de Volude, d'aprs des documents indits, Paris, 1908
Imperial Dictionary of Universal Biography, (no date), vol. I, p. 131
J. Balteau, M. Barroux, and M. Prevost, Dictionnaire de Biographie Franaise, II, Paris, 1936, pp. 477-78
Batrix-Stphanie (1764-1842) was the daughter of Marie-Anne de Chaumont-Quitry, a childhood friend of Madame de Pompadour. Batrix-Stphanie, married the Marquis de Lage de Volude in 1782 and left interesting memoirs of their emigration (owing to the Revolution), and of the Empire and the Restoration. Batrix was a lady-in-waiting to Thrse-Louise de Savoie-Cargnan, the Princesse de Lamballe.
The bust must date from after Batrix's marriage in 1782, and indeed presumably from after 1788, the date inscribed on the socle.
