Lot Essay

This pair of chenets is very similar to one, albeit with variations to the lower section, supplied to the château de Fontainebleau in 1804, where they are listed in the salon of cardinal Fesch as 1 paire de forts chenets à fûts de colonnes, cassolette et pommes de pin en cuivre ciselé doré in 1804 (J.-P. Samoyault, Pendules et bronzes d'ameublement entrés sous le Premier Empire, Paris, 1989, p. 214, fig. 199).
