A DUTCH SATINWOOD, AMARANTH AND MARQUETRY SECRETAIRE A ABATTANT
Late 18th Century
Inlaid overall with boxwood and ebonised lines, the eared rectangular top with canted corners and three quarter geometric pierced gallery with rectangular panelled corners, the front corners each inlaid with a butterfly above a frieze-drawer inlaid with overlapping flowerheads, above a rectangular panelled fall-flap inlaid with a ruin with a figure, enclosing a fitted interior with a green baize-lined writing-surface a shelf and two pigeon-holes, six small drawers and two tall drawers each inlaid with a column flanking a door with a ribbon-tied foliage medallion enclosing a drawer, above a pair of rectangular panelled doors each with an architectural figure in conforming ribbon borders, enclosing a shelf and a drawer with a hinged top, the angles with a ribbon-entwined pole, on square tapering legs inlaid with foliage, on later brass bun feet, minor restorations
