Each in the form of a palm tree with naturalistic branches issuing from the leafy top, each with a simulated pineapple nozzle and lappeted drip-pan, with a snake wrapped round the trunk and eating fruit, the tripartite leafy base with a monkey seated on each part, each inscribed 'candelabra VZ 13' three times to the base, regilt

Lot Essay

A pair of candelabra of identical design in the Roger collection was sold at Sotheby's London, 28-30 January 1998, lot 82, while a further pair without monkeys to the corners of the base was sold at Sotheby's London, 12 December 1994, lot 396.
