A SPANISH COLONIAL (SOUTH AMERICAN) SILVER-PLATED REPOUSSE FRAME
Late 18th Century
The later rectangular plate in a pierced lappeted slip surrounded by a low-relief frame with intertwined strapwork, shells and trellis, the cresting centred by a flaming heart wrapped with thorns and supported by a pair of winged cherubs, the lower corners of the mirror supported by a further pair of cherubs, with printed paper label to the reverse 'COLLECTION DU MARQUIS DE BAILLEUL NO.', with remains of further paper label and with paper label inscribed in ink '103...', restorations, originally with a candle-branch and further applied decoration to the inner frame, the bottom left corner mount on the mirror slip replaced
