A FLORENTINE EBONY, EBONISED AND SCAGLIOLA TABLE CABINET
Mid-17th Century
With ripple-moulding overall and pink, grey and yellow scagliola panels simulating verde antico and rosso Verona marbles, the rectangular sliding top enclosing a well above a cavetto-moulded and cushion frieze, above a pair of walnut-lined drawers and a pair of panelled doors enclosing a fitted interior with fourteen variously-sized small drawers, the central marbled recess with eight secret drawers, on a canted rectangular base, inscribed in pencil to the top of the sliding central section 'cima', the lower section of the base later and the sliding top replaced
32½ in. (82.5 cm.) high; 31¼ in. (79.5 cm.) wide; 22¼ in. (56.5 cm.) deep
