The later arched divided plate within a moulded slip, the sides with trailing floral swags and the cresting surmounted by a feather-crowned mask and flowerhead crowing coquerels, above a C-scroll terminating in a female herm, the apron with acanthus-wrapped lobes and a shell and husk moulding, restorations, two mirror plates cracked, minor peripheral losses to the carving, with collection label 'EDWARD CHAPPEY' and tag inscribed '827', re-gilt, the shape of the base altered in the 19th Century and probably extended in height to form an overmantel mirror, with consequential replacements to mouldings
