Cycling interest: The Bath City Challenge Vase;
a large, Victorian standing trophy cup and cover on a domed circular base with paw scroll feet and embossed lobed fluting, the cast, openwork stem, set with three putti emblematic of earth, fire and water, supporting aloft a vase-shaped bowl set with festoons and masks with a shallow fluted rim with barb-like projections on the cover, rising to a cast putto finial emblematic of Victory, the whole resting on a large turned wooden plynth set with shields, (inscribed with the names of recipients) and the enamelled badge of "Bath Cycling Club" and titled "Bath Challenge Vase", (one barbed projection detached, but present, by Stephen Smith, 1873 - 99.5cm high on plynth, 77.5cm high excluding plynth, 172oz.
