Provenance
An ink inscription on the back of the lid reads, "Prince Augustus Frederick" of Sussex given to him by his affectionate mother June the 25th 1801? - London. Augustus Frederick was born on the 13th January 1794, the son of Lady Augusta Murray and Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex, the sixth son of George III. Prince Augustus Frederick was therefore first cousin to Queen Victoria
