The case with waisted pediment to the breakarch top, surmounted by pineapple finials, brass handles above arched sound frets to the sides, stop-fluted Corinthian columns flanking a door with mask escutcheon and conforming mock escutcheon, on stepped and moulded base with brass bracket feet, the silvered dial with engraved foliate spandrels and ring to the arch for Westminster/Eight bells, trefoil hands, signed HASWELL LONDON, the triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, with hour strike on gong (hammer head lacking) and quarter chimes on eight bells or four gongs
