A George III mahogany and gilt-brass mounted quarter-chiming bracket clock, circa 1770
The case with breakarch top, with brass handle to the sides above arched fishscale sound frets (one detached), caryatid figures terminating in flowers to the chamfered front angles, with later stiff leaf cast door, on moulded rectangular base and leafy scroll cast feet, the brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered chapter ring, (re-)matted centre with date and mock pendulum apertures, the foliate engraved arch with recessed silvered plaque signed Wm. Creak Roy:l Exchange LONDON, flanked by regulation and strike/silent rings, the triple wire fusee movement with verge escapement, hour strike on bell and quarter chimes on a nest of eight bells, pull trip repeat, the backplate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls and with repeat signature; lacking glass to rear door
