2 volumes in one, 12°, titles printed in red and black, frontispiece to each volume, 26 engraved plates (9 folding), 5 folding maps and one folding engraved and letterpress table (short clean tear to folds of first map, one plate loosely inserted, a few light spots), 18th-century sheep-backed sprinkled boards, spine gilt and with red morocco label (head of spine chipped). Provenance: Marquis de Verac, armorial bookplate.

FIRST EDITION of this account of Leguat's voyage from Amsterdam to the Cape, containing "descriptions of the islands of Rodriguez, Mauritius, and Batavia, together with an interesting account of the Cape and the Hottentots, and of the Dutch Settlements in the Colony. A number of quaint illustrations of the zoology and botany of these regions will be found in the work". Mendelsohn pp. 875-77.
