Shaped like miniature kamchengs, the boxes were made to contain a face powder known as bedak sejok, which was used by traditional Nonya ladies. Similar powder boxes are illustrated by Ho Wing Meng, op. cit., fig. 66. Another pair of potiches was sold as part of a setof cosmetic containers, in these Rooms, 27 March 1994, lot 113.
