The interior medallion enclosing a crane reserved against a pink ground, surrounded by birds and butterflies in flight among flowering and fruiting branches, below a border of floral sprigs, birds and insects encircling the undulating rim, the profuse decoration repeated on the exterior, the base enamelled with a single chrysanthemum bloom, minor glaze chips to rim

Lot Essay

A matching 'in-and-out' dish also with a chrysanthemum spray base mark, is illustrated in Nonya ware and Kitchen Ch'ing, 1981, fig. C26.
