A PAIR OF NONYA EMBROIDERED BRIDAL BED HANGINGS
EARLY 20TH CENTURY

The lower panel of apple-green silk finely worked in Peking knot stitch in vibrant coloured silks and couched with gilt threads with a pair of phoenix flanking three large peony blossoms, surmounted by the top panel of purple silk damask embroidered with auspicious symbols, both panels bordered on three sides with further floral scrolls and a multi-coloured silk tasselled fringe

Lot Essay
