A large matched pair of Chinese Imari jars and covers
Kangxi (1662-1722)
The baluster sides painted, enamelled and gilt around the exterior with a scrolling meander of feathery foliage and large chrysanthemum, peony and lotus blossom, between a cloud-collar at the shoulder enclosing further blooms reserved on a dense foliate ground and a band around the base of petals containing each a single flower spray, the domed covers similarly decorated and surmounted by Buddhistic-lion finials (rim cracks and restoration)
