Lot Essay

Crossed swords above K were used throughout the 18th Century by various Blaumaler, such as Kretzschmar, Kolmberger and Koberwein. Recent research has shown that the K cannot automatically be connected to a painter; In den Malerberichten gegen Ende des 18.Jahrhunderts is verzeichnet dass der Lehrling Wunderlich und der Maler Schicker 226 Stcke mit den Buchstaben K signiert haben (op.cit. p. 91)
