Lot Essay

This very interesting and original manuscript contains a huge quantity of miniatures which are most unusual in their spareness and lack of detail. Yusuf's flock on f. 87a is reduced to two goats, and rarely do more than two figures appear in each miniature. The men's turbans are of the transitional Safavid type of around 1550-60.
