TURKEY, FIRST HALF 16TH CENTURY AND LATER
The single-edged watered steel blade with flat spine damascened in gold on one side with an inscription cartouche, a gilt-copper collar above engraved with fine floral motifs, the green jade handle with overall scrolling arabesques inlaid in gold and further finely chased, a similar band of flowering vine above, the top with similar leaves around the inset ruby, the associated green velvet covered wooden sheath with repoussé silver mounts worked with diagonal bands of flowering vine and rope-motif, the jade hilt 16th century, the collar, blade and sheath circa 1800
