Of typical form, the long rectangular section pencase with rounded ends, one of them hinged, the applied inkwell of rectangular section barrel form with hinged cover, the surface delicately damascened in gold, the pencase with bold thuluth inscription cartouches divided by scrolling floral motifs, the upper and lower edges with delicate scrolling floral meander, the inkwell with the tughra of Murad V (reigned May-August 1876), the top with the name Latif, presumably that of the maker
